The Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church (VGEC) is represented in Atlanta by the Mark Emory Graham Chapter. The chapter was named in memory of Mark Emory Graham, a Verger at All Saints, Atlanta who was instrumental in promoting Vergers in the Diocese and in the founding the local chapter soon after the creation of the National Guild in 1989.
Chapter members are available to assist individual parishes with beginning or expanding their verger programs, as well as providing individual training for vergers. More generalized training is provided at the Chapter meeting in January of each year. During these meetings, the needs of the vergers in various parishes are recognized and reflected in the topics covered. Discussions are varied and wide ranges of themes and formats are used to ensure the training experience is useful. More experienced vergers are as likely to profit as those who are newer to this wonderful liturgical ministry.
